With rising coronavirus cases across the world, Canada has once again extended the travel restrictions and closing its international borders till October 31. It is notified as per the new Canadian Government’s Order of Council.
Canada had previously closed the borders on March 18 – June 30 and the same has been updated on a month-to-month basis. And as per recent updates, foreign travellers are barred from visiting Canada for tourism, recreation and any other purposes.
Certain foreign workers, immediate family members of Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, international students and people who have been provided PR for Canada can still enter the country.
Anyone entering Canada is required to undergo 14-days of quarantine and with some exemptions of the rule has been listed on Order of the Council. The people who should mandatorily undergo 14-days of quarantine include people coming to work, crossing the border in a trans-border community, crew members, those coming to receive medical services within 36 hours of their arrival, and those invited by the Health Minister to help COVID health workers.
The new rule is amended due to the rising number of coronavirus cases. Although Canada was able to flatten the curve of Coronavirus since May, lately it has witnessed a rise in cases and hence, the new rule is being announced by the government.
However, the government has been approving PR invitations amid Covid-19 and has stated that they welcome skilled and global talent to drive its economic growth.
