People visiting Singapore from India should take Pre-Departure COVID test

One of the popular places for Indians to visit in SE Asia is Singapore, however as Singapore is witnessing a spike in imported coronavirus cases and that too from India, the government has decided to mandate Pre-Departure COVID test and this move will come effectively from 17th of September onwards.

The Health Ministry of Singapore has stated that people travelling from India need to produce a valid COVID-19 test report taken before their flight to Singapore. This includes incoming travellers whether its tourists or residents.

Singapore has particularly seen a rise in Incoming cases and that too from tourists/residents who are coming to the country via India. Recently, a 1-year-old baby had arrived in the country and was tested positive and on 7th of September 3 such, imported cases were noticed out of which two had a travel history of stay in India.

As per the reports on Singapore Government Website, the Health Ministry had said  “We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in India. There have been reports of a resurgence of infections in India. Singapore has also observed a significant number of imported cases with recent travel history to India.”

Besides, people who visit Singapore should undertake mandatory 14-day quarantine on arrival and before the end of the Quarantine period, people should produce negative Covid-19 certificate. The Ministry had added that travellers should be ready to be subjected to precautionary measures upon entry which includes payment for Stay-home-notice and tests.
